I recently took my family to Edmonton for a weekend getaway, and we had a blast exploring all the free and affordable activities the city has to offer. Here are a few of our favorites:
We started our weekend by visiting the Muttart Conservatory, which is home to four glass pyramids filled with tropical plants and flowers. The kids loved exploring the different pyramids and learning about the different plants. Admission is free, but there is a small fee for parking.
Next, we headed to the Alberta Legislature Building, which is one of the most iconic landmarks in Edmonton. We took a free guided tour of the building and learned about its history and architecture. The kids especially enjoyed seeing the Mace, which is the symbol of the province’s authority.
In the afternoon, we visited the Royal Alberta Museum, which is home to a wide variety of exhibits on natural history, human history, and science. The kids loved exploring the dinosaur exhibits and learning about the animals that lived in Alberta millions of years ago.
